Hotel For Dogs!

Brian and I went to see the movie "Hotel for Dogs" last night at the Pinnacle at Turkey Creek. It is a great family movie! It is not quite attention holding enough for a 2.5 year old but it is fantastic. Zane would have liked seeing the dogs in it and watching their antics but the story line would have been too much for him. We enjoyed it though! There is a Boston Terrier named "Georgia" in it and she is the cutest thing ever!(except Biskit) I wish I could have 5 just like her to bring home to Biskit! Of course I would have no place to put them and they won't all fit under the covers like Biskit does, but it would be great! Brian and I don't often go out alone but we are trying to do it a little more. Our alone time is basically when all the babies big, small, and furry are asleep and we can sit in bed and watch a movie until we doze off. We highly recommend that movie for kids and adults alike. It is a good family film and there is a Boston in it what else do you need?!

Just a quick update...

I can't believe it's almost Valentines Day! It seems like I just took my tree down. January has flown by. Elijah came home from school yesterday and he had taken a unit test in Social Studies and made a 97 on it. He had the second highest grade in the class. It was a hard unit too. He always does well in school but he knew that test would be hard. We were really proud of him. 5th grade has definitely been a lot harder than any other year. He has never had to really study, study, study, to make good grades but this year he has studied a lot more. The curriculum is definitely harder than the other years. We are still potty training Zane. It is a long process! He's doing fine. God has blessed Brian's work even in the middle of this economic uneasiness. They are still doing jobs , a lot less than normal, but enough to keep going. Brian and I pray, believe, and say every day that God meets our needs, not man, and he will provide jobs for Brian's company to do. (And he has and will continue to do so) I am reading a book right now by a Pastor that I respect a lot and he says "What you say and believe in the midst of your difficulties will have a great impact on how long you stay in those situations." We know that to be true by watching people that continue to stay in negative frame of mind and speak constant gloom and doom. Their lives continue to move in that direction. (Life and Death is in the power of the tongue. Prov 18:21) We pray every evening for God to bless Brian's business and the families of those that work with him. With all of the gloom and doom in the world right now we try real hard to be an encouragement to those around us and not let it come into our home as much as possible. It definitely can test your faith and your fortitude.

Presidential Inauguration

Zane likes to watch people on t.v. like preachers etc... so he liked all the inaugural festivities. He stood in front of the t.v. and waved his hands and gibber gabbered. It was cute. I certainly think President Obama has a euphoric viewpoint on foreign policy and is definitely going to be overwhelmed because of his lack of experience but the Bible says to pray for the leaders of your country and that is really all that I can do. Although it is a historical because of his race it annoyed me terribly that is was made all about race and nothing else. When was the last time Oprah or Jay-Z showed up to support any other leader that has taken that office. The benediction given by the preacher at the end was repulsive and blasphemous. I think they have forgotten that he is HALF white and half black. The disrespect shown Fmr. Pres. Bush by the crowd and the poking comments made by our new President were uncalled for and premature. The responsibility given to the person that holds this office is beyond comprehension. You can't make everyone happy all the time. I think it is great to see so many African Americans standing with White people to cheer, and support an amazing event in our country. Slavery ended long ago, so lets see if they still make it the excuse for everything now that we have a half African American in office. Race is certainly not an issue with me but it seems the ones who have called for color blindness are the ones bringing it up to the forefront! I ask God to lead and guide the decisions of President Obama and to give him wisdom when dealing with hard issues, that is about all I can do. He has the platform and opportunity to change this country in a lot of good ways, but he needs wisdom not race to do it.

Yeah Snow!!-Somebody forgot to tell the bird!

It has snowed all day long at our house. This bird lives in the tree by the door and sometimes will fly out to greet you when you open it. She has nest after nest of babies in that tree. Obviously no one told her that snow is coming. Zane doesn't really go crazy over it either. He will go to the door and say "Snow, Cold!" I took him out and he touched it, threw it and then came back in. Maybe next year it will be more fun!

Zane and Pa!

My Dad, Pa, works 7 days a week most of the time so he doesn't get to see Zane a whole lot. He sees him a little in the morning and sometimes before bed if he gets home early enough, but its usually close to 10.

That's not how the potty seat works!!

Zane prefers to sit on the big potty with a chair instead of his own potty seat but I tried to tell him that the seat would work better if he put it on the potty instead of on his head!! Boys!! Pottying is such a laugh for boys. Thank goodness this is nowhere near the first child I have potty trained. At least Zane makes it interesting.

Wild Wings

We took both of the boys to Wild Wings for dinner this evening. Elijah and Brian have been wanting to go for a while so after we picked up Elijah we went. Brian did the floors in Wild Wings but we had not been to eat since it was finished. It is just 3 miles from our house so we will definitely go more often, it was great!! After we had ordered Elijah looked at Brian and said "This is a sports bar place mom, Brian and I have to act like men and do man stuff!" Just as soon as he said that all the men burst into cheers for whichever football game (I couldn't care less) was on. Testerone kicks in early!! Even Zane will protest if he has to shop for too long with me! That's what you get with a house full of men, but Brian wouldn't have it any other way.

Happy New Year (except for the fever!)

My little man has a throat infection and had to go to the Pediatrician today. He has kept a fever for the last 36 hours and he kept telling me to fix it and pointed to his throat so we took him and he got an antibiotic to keep it from getting worse over the holiday. Brian asked Elijah if he wanted to go to the Dr. with us and he said "No Way I can't handle it!" He usually is more upset than Zane, especially if they have to give him a shot. One crying little one is enough! He's a very overprotective big brother. While they were getting the blood from his finger (she ran a cbc) he was crying saying "Aw Mannnnn! " We didn't know whether to laugh or cry!

One of Elijahs presents for me

Elijah got me some perfume and this trophy from his holiday store at school. I collect Willow Tree figures and they also got me another one to add to my collection.

Christmas Pictures!

I posted as many pics as I thought you would want to see. We have about 3-4 days of Christmas at our house with different family members so it is a lot! I posted these in reverse so excuse the craziness! Christmas Day is before Christmas Eve, but you get the idea!! P.S. Zane can count to 15 now!!!!!

Christmas Morning!

Zane wanted to sit on it instead of using it as a desk!

Zane's Kitchen!

Zane got a new kitchen that has a diner on one side and a kitchen on the other. He really loves it. He always likes to help me mop and sweep and he has known the difference between hot and cold forever. We knew he would really love a kitchen of his own.
